Also included are : restoration of teeth using white composite fillings, inlays, onlays and ,crowns, periodontics, endodontics ( root canal treatment ), tooth replacement with implants, bridges, dentures , prevention and treatment of TMJ disorders and headaches.
In general, preventive care refers to measures taken to prevent diseases instead of treating the symptoms.
Preventive dentistry is the practice of caring for your teeth to keep them healthy. This helps to avoid cavities, gum disease, enamel wear and periodontitis. We recommend you brush your teeth (and tongue) and floss daily. Regular visits to the dentist and dental hygienist are an important part of preventive care. Even more so for children, where orthodontic anomalies can be diagnosed in time for orthodontic intervention.
Prompt diagnosis of dental decay ensures quick and easy treatment.
Standard diagnostic tools are generally used, in our office we use a diagnostic laser – DiagnoDent as well. It can safely be used on pregnant women as well as children. Another important tool aiding in decay diagnosis is the intraoral digital radiograph. We use Planmeca Intra with minimal radiation output.
Treatment of dental decay
Diagnostics using the DiagnoDent pen has the benefit of informing us of the stage of enamel demineralization. In early stages, a filling is not always necessary. We recommend using a concentrated fluoride gel or other remineralization products. These can stop decay if it is in superficial enamel.
Once the decay is deeper in the enamel or next layer – dentine, a filling is unavoidable. Under local anesthesia the decayed tooth substance is removed and replaced with an esthetic white filling.
